If you too are interested in designing a functional outdoor kitchen, feel free to draw inspiration from these following tips and ideas.

Location

When it comes to designing an outdoor kitchen, the first thing that you must take into consideration is the new location of you custom outdoor kitchen.

It’s generally recommended to design your outdoor kitchen near the main entrance of the house so that you always have access in the house.

This makes it easier for you to transport food from the inside kitchen in the outdoor kitchen and quickly grab a kitchen utensils or a couple of food times if you need them,

Primary function of the kitchen

Take time to think about which will be the primary function of the outdoor kitchen. If you are planning to host dinner parties every weekend you need to focus on the layout but also on the kitchen appliances, which are probably the most important here.

On the other hand, if you want to create a space for relaxation, where you can enjoy having dinner or a snack near the pool, you can keep the decor as simple as possible and opt only for the right essentials.

Dining and entertainment space

If you are planning to use your outdoor kitchen for more than just cooking, chances are you will be using your new kitchen for more than once or twice a week.

Other than placing the kitchen appliances, 2 or three kitchen counters or cabinets, you must also think about including a dining table, a lounge chair by the pool or some simple bar where you can serve a delicious and refreshing cocktail with your friends.

Lighting

Lighting is sometimes overlooked but it should be your first priority when it comes to designing an outdoor kitchen. You will want to cook even after the sun has set, because the ambiance is more enjoyable and the heat won’t trouble you anymore.

So make sure to brighten areas where cooking activities will take place. You should also ensure that the dining areas and other important areas are well-lit.

Kitchen appliances

Investing in a high quality gas grill or refrigerator is very important because quality is more crucial than quantity, especially when creating an outdoor kitchen.

Since the gas grill is the main element of any outdoor kitchen, we advise you to be very careful when choosing it. These grills can be quite expensive, so it pays to do some research before buying one.

Other than opting for a small refrigerator, a dishwasher or other regular appliances, you need to invest more money into a gas grill, because you’ll use it more than just a few times a week, especially in the summer when you want to eat healthy.
