Choosing Home Fitness Equipment For Small Spaces

Getting fit whilst living in a small apartment or unit can be especially challenging, as you are often dealing with small spaces and a lack of storage. Whilst the best solution is to invest in a gym membership, some people would still prefer to workout at.

Resistance bands

These bands can be used to strengthen and tone your arms with ease, but they take up hardly any room (they can be stored in a box, a bag or even on a shelf somewhere).

Resistance bands come in many different lengths, colours and strengths so that you can choose some that match your level of fitness. If you are a beginner, for example, select a band that is long and loose. An expert can help you choose an appropriate band.

Hand weights

Your setup will not be complete with at least one pair of hand weights – it is a good idea to have a few different size sets if possible, as this will help to accommodate the various exercises that you end up doing.

There is also more than one kind of hand weight, so you might want to invest in one or two different ones. These can be stored on a shelf or in a box when not in use; just be wary that they can be quite heavy.

Yoga mats

Whilst these are not the first pieces of home fitness equipment that spring to mind, they can be incredibly useful.

Yoga mats can be used for just about any kind of workout you can think of and they provide excellent cushioning on hard floors. When not in use, you can roll the mat up and stow it wherever you have space.

They are also fairly inexpensive, so you don’t need to be worried about a little bit of damage.

Exercise balls

These are great items to have if you are focusing on core strengthening exercises or improving your posture. Like resistance bands, balls are available in many different sizes and colours, allowing you to choose one that matches your fitness level.

Whilst exercise balls might look quite large, you can let the air out to store them (although having to pump them up all the time could become a nuisance).

This piece of equipment probably looks more at home in your local gym, but they are great for your home setup! Because they are much smaller than the other machines available, they can be stashed away in another room or even a cupboard when not in use.

Use your stepper to work up a sweat whilst watching your favourite television show. They are also much more affordable than other machines.

At the end of the day, you don’t need to have any special home fitness equipment in order to get a great workout and reach your exercise goals.

This means that even the smallest of homes can be decked out with items that allow you to tone and strengthen key areas of your body. If you aren’t sure what kind of pieces are suitable for your needs and available space, make sure you speak with an equipment expert for assistance.
