There’s no doubt why many successful people follow strict morning routines. Of course, it is not realistic to mimic their routine strictly every day without fail, but if you want to do your best and a spend your day happily, you should definitely make a morning routine for you.

6 Best Morning Habits to Become More Productive

Here are 6 simple morning habits that you can add into your routine, to ensure you are feeling, acting, and thinking at your highest potential for the rest of your day.

1. Wake Up Early

Wake up early to attack the day! Early risers procure many benefits which include, being able to go through your morning routine in a calm and leisurely way instead of running around like a headless chicken. Also, the quiet morning hours are a great time to introspect and get yourself ready for the big day.

Early risers tend to procrastinate less than the ones who wake up late in the morning. Not a morning person? No problem. Start by trying to sleep 15 minutes early and then waking up 15 minutes before your regular schedule. Gradually take it to 20 minutes, then 30 and so on until you reach your desired wake-up time. Waking up early and it will buy you time to follow the 5 habits explained below.

2. Meditate

Start your day with tranquility by meditating in the morning. Meditation does everything from calming our mind to making it optimistic, improving your focus to reducing stress, and improving emotional stability to preventing health ailments. Not sure how to get started? Here is a simple meditation routine you can follow-

  1. Sit into a comfortable position, set an alarm of 5 minutes and close your eyes.
  2. Allow your mind to be free. Focus on your breath.
  3. Inhale through your nose for 4 counts, retain for 4 and exhale for 8 counts.
  4. When you notice that thought has distracted your mind, let go of it and be back to concentrating on your breath.
  5. When the timer goes off, stop counting. But keep your eyes closed for a moment.
  6. Keeping your eyes closed, set the goals for the day and visualize achieving those goals.
  7. Open your eyes and raise your arm to the sky for a stretch and then go on with your day.

Many people meditate the first thing in the morning to start their day with a clear mind. The more you meditate the more quickly you’ll see its benefits.

3. Exercise

Whether they are simple yoga poses, a brisk walk with your pet, a quick set of push-ups or sit-ups or hitting the gym for a workout, starting your day with these physical activities energizes the body and the mind. Identify what kind of routine is right for you and schedule accordingly.

It doesn’t have to be long, complicated or intense, but having some sort of physical activities in the morning will get your blood flowing and help quiet any mental stress. You can even switch up exercises you do every day to keep your routine interesting.

It will also help loosen your muscle after the whole night of sleeping while increasing your energy levels. Taking 10-15 minutes to do a few yoga poses will also allow you to prepare your mind, breath and body for the day ahead.

4. Put Yourself Together

Putting time and efforts into your appearance helps build self-confidence. When you feel confident, it is one less thing to worry about throughout the day. So, shower, wash your face, brush your teeth, floss, comb your hair, apply your daily melalite forte cream for getting fairer and spotless skin, a dress to impress and apply all other grooming habits that make you feel happier and confident.

This may also include picking out your clothes or ironing them and whatever makes you feel like you are taking care of your health, looking presentable and feeling confident.

5. Drink Warm Water with Lemon

Drink a large glass of warm water with a lemon squeezed in it. This is a health tip for you which will benefit you in the following way-

  1. Lemon water cleanses and stimulates the functioning of liver and kidneys.
  2. The anti-oxidant properties of lemons help combat free radicals, which keeps your skin looking young and healthy.
  3. It promotes hydration.
  4. It improves digestion.
  5. Freshens the breath.
  6. Helps prevent kidney stones.

Sleeping for 7-8 hours dehydrates our body. So, the first thing you should do just after waking up is, drink at least one glass of water to get going for exercises, meditation or any other activities. For extra flavour, you can also add a teaspoon of honey to it.

6. Eat a Healthy Breakfast

You might have heard the phrase- “Eat Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince and Dinner like a Pauper” which clearly states that breakfast is the more important meal of the day.

When you take time to eat a healthy breakfast and by healthy breakfast, I mean proteins, healthy fats and whole grains, you’ll have more energy throughout the day and a stronger ability to concentrate on your work.

When you choose to eat breakfast, try to eat whole foods to get more nutrients such as egg, oatmeal, yoghurt, fruits, whole wheat toast. Try to limit the sugary cereals, white bread and processed foods. If you are serious about your health, make eating a big breakfast your daily morning routine.

Final Words…

If you start your day after having a sound sleep, you’ll wake feeling rejuvenated and ready to get going through the day, starting with your new morning habits. Devoting yourself to some simple morning routine will help you achieve success in your health and your life for today and the days after. So, start preparing your morning chart today itself and get ready to rock the morning.
