Do you think you’ve spent too much money on decor this holiday?

Well, there is a possibility that once you learn this Christmas fact, you will relax. One man named Yves Piaget spent more than £10 million (converted to more than $13 million US dollars at that time) on his Christmas tree decorations.

The Christmas tree was heavily decorated with a total of 83 jewelry pieces in Tokyo, which would have been a tremendous amount of money if converted to Yen.

2. Santa’s Magical powers

We have all heard stories of Santa doing extraordinary things, so we obviously know that he has some magical powers, but some researchers have taken their time to calculate just how magical Santa really is.

The researchers revealed that for Father Christmas to deliver all of his gifts on Christmas Eve, he would have to travel at 650 miles per second and drop by 822 homes a second to deliver presents – no wonder he needs to munch on so much mince pies.

3. There’s something called Christmas Tree Soup

Have you ever been told that the only way to get the most vitamin C during the festivities is to eat satsumas?

That’s no truth in any way. It turns out that if you choose to eat part of your Christmas tree (and that the needles), you’ll get the right dose of vitamin as the needles are a good source of Vitamin C.

If after Christmas, you want to eat some of your trees, then dry out some of the needles before you grind them. You can then add some of the dried needles as a soup garnish.

4. Robin Christmas Cards Might Annoy Your Postman

All over the world, robins are a favorite Christmas card addition, and you’re most likely to get several glittery Christmas cards with a bold robin emblazoned on the front.

Yet, it is not surprising that robins can be seen in the United Kingdom (which is where the Christmas card tradition started) all year round. So why are they so famous at Christmas?

We found out that back in the nineteenth century, red tunics were a uniform for postmen, and they were nicknamed ‘Robin Postmen.’ Putting a robin in front of a Christmas card was in a joke, and it wasn’t a funny one.

5. It’s A Wonderful Life

Almost every family that celebrates Christmas cozies up to watches It’s A Wonderful Life on Christmas eve or over Christmas, but I bet you didn’t know that this popular Christmas movie favorite contained an FBI file?

Although unbelievable, this shocking Christmas fact is not false. In 1947 some people believed the film was a communist ploy and that its primary aim was to undermine bankers.

Here is another shocking fact about It’s A Wonderful Life: as at the time the bridge scene was filmed, George was very sweaty because it was a boiling 90 degrees on that day. I don’t know if I’d have survived such a weather temperature.

6. Weight Gain At Christmas

Have you ever thought you get a little weightier over the festive period? Well, though most of us can’t avoid overindulging and enjoy can’t help but enjoy a few too many feasts, studies have revealed that we don’t put on as much weight as we think.

A US study showed that participants believe they put on at some weight of at least 5lbs (2.27kg), but they only gained an average weight of 0.8lb (0.36kg) over the holiday period.

7. Christmas In Space

Just like the Grinch, some humans want to escape from Christmas. However, this is one Christmas fact that reveals to us that Christmas is nearly inescapable as people have gone all the way to space to sing carols.

The first song to ever be sung in outer space was Jingle Bells. In 1963 Two astronauts reported they saw a UFO.

Both men then claimed that the unidentified flying object had one primary command module as well as eight smaller modules in front. They added that the pilot was on a red suit. The mischievous duo then proceeded to sing Jingle Bells to NASA.

There’s almost no person on the planet who doesn’t love Home Alone, but not everyone is aware that Daniel Stern, the actor who played the character of baddie Marv, did not like spiders.

He did not want to do the famous tarantula scene, but he eventually agreed to the filming only if it was done in a single take.

The scene was finally shot, but Daniel Stern was not allowed actually to scream because it would have scared the tarantula. The scream in that part had to be included by tech whizzes at a later date.

9. Biggest Ever Secret Santa

If you believe your family’s secret Santa was a complicated and tricky business, then imagine how challenging it was to organize the staff at Boots UK Limited, who were engaged in the most massive secret Santa ever. The present swap that took place in 2008 involved 1,270 people.

10. Christmas Break-Ups

Most of us would think that Christmas is easily the most romantic time of the year after Valentine’s day.

Gift exchange, open fires, mistletoe, and endless parties are the right mix to get more in love with your other half, yet through an analysis of Facebook posts, researchers were able to discover that many couples break up 14 days (2 weeks) before Christmas.

In fact, this season of love and happiness is the second most popular time of the year for couples to separate. Well, if you’re thinking of breaking up with that person, you just may want to reconsider, or not.
